Beaufort NC

Woo hoo ! Beaufort North Carolina !!
Beautiful little seaside town. We went out into the Altantic today and had a beautiful sunrise at 6 am. the waters were calm and kyle thru out the fishing lines and caught a wonderful Mackeral. We were having a gorgeous sail until approx. 3 pm when the weather adviser hit the radio waves....well in a sailboat int he Atlantic the radio can tell you whatever it wishes but you can't run for cover.
The storm that hit us had up to 35 knot winds and 15 foot waves. We bunked down and dropped the sails as best we could and went into the pilot house to try to steer head to wind.
( for the next thing I don't care if you think I'm looney..this really happened)
As we thought we were in the worst of things we heard thumping on the starboard side of the boat. We all ( yes kyle and kelly are my witnesses) looked out the window and saw a pod of dolphins swimming into the starboard side of the boat as if trying to tell us to turn port ( left for you layreaders..lol) so we did and the storm quickly subsided when we headed that direction...honestly...I am not making this up.
Around 5 pm we headed into the ICW at Beaufort NC and tied up in the municple marina docks. They gave us wooden nickels good for free beer, wine or coke and after one of each we relaxed.
We had a terrific dinner in the old fashioned town (established 1709) and now are back on wifi ..lol
Tomorrow we will start the treck into the ICW up to Norfolk Virginia...should be approximately 3 days ...we hope then to pick up crew to do the offshore 48 hrs or so to New york and good ole Lady Liberty....any takers...sorry sailors only ....
